Set of 2 club chairs attributed to Carl-Johan Boman Finland
A pair of club chairs attributed to Carl-Johan Boman (Finnish 1883-1969), Circa 1940s. Probably produced by Oy N. Boman AB, Turku, Finland.
Exclusive and extremely comfortable chairs with generous armrests and curved, encompassing shell-shaped backs. New golden bouclé upholstery
They are typically Finnish for the time with a distinct sweep in the back legs which makes them particularly elegant; since the front legs are straight, the back legs offer strong support by kicking out for extra balance.
Boman was an educated designer who first worked for the established company Boman Furniture Factory. The factory was founded by his father around the end of the 19th Century and It produced high quality furniture in a more traditional style. After Carl-Johan joined the company he successfully reinvented the product line in a more modern direction.
