Per Fernhagen är utbildad på Valands konsthögskola och Högskolan för Konst och Design i Göteborg (HDK). Han har en omfattande utställningsverksamhet bakom sig som sträcker sig ända från 1988 med utställningar i Sverige, Danmark och Norge. Speciellt Danmark har tagit hans konst till sitt hjärta med ett flertal utställningar och TV-framträdanden. Målar i en sann göteborgsk koloristisk anda, där motivet delas upp i horisontella och vertikala fält där tid och rum löses upp.
