Lovely watercolor by Anna Palm de Rosa - Laxbåtar i Östersjön. Measure picture 21,5 x 30, 5 cm. With frame 32 x 41 cm. Marked Anna Palm indicating it was painted before 1901 when she married Alfredo de Rosa.

Anna Palm was born in 1859 in Stockholm with a solid artistic background. She was the daughter of the landscape painter and academy professor Gustaf Wilhelm Palm and her grandfather was the history painter Johan Gustav Sandberg, also a professor and director of the Academy of Fine Arts. In her youth, Palm studied with her father and Per Daniel Holm. At that time, she enjoyed painting marine motifs, including from Skagen, Skåne and Visby. Later, she specialized in Stockholm motifs. Anna Palm focused early on watercolor painting, a technique she mastered so well that in 1889 she became the first female teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts.
